New range of their NV type buildings

Rubb Hall AS have developed a new range of their NV type buildings (Summer 2009)

These structures have been sold by Rubb for over 30 years and have continuously been improved over the years. This autumn Rubb Hall AS have developed a brand new range for higher snow load areas. We have also standardised the 12m wide and the 15m wide buildings so that the same components can be interchanged. The same goes for the 15m wide and the 20m wide NV's. This new range of NV Rubbhalls is also designed for a higher snow load as standard - 250kg/m2. To test our structural calculations Rubb has done a full scale destructive test of this new NV building. This test has showed that the structure can withstand a theoretical snow load approximately 50% higher than the design snow load. The test was carried out on a centre truss with pulleys and wires attached to a load cell. The load was controlled by the use of hydraulic jacks. This illustrates clearly that our NV range can take very lage snow loads.

PVC Measuring and Cutting Machine

PVC Measuring and Cutting Machine (Summer 2009)

This machine is specially made for Rubb Hall AS and allows very efficient measuring out of fabric length. When the length has been set by the operator the machine automatically pulls the required length from the roll and the operator then pushes a button for semi-automatic cutting of the fabric. This means we only need one operator for fabric measuring and cutting while before we needed two. Rubb Hall AS always strives to innovate to keep costs to our customers as low as possible.

Rubb Hall Refreshes Roof on Aker Solutions AS Site in Stord

Rubb Hall Refreshes Roof on Aker Solutions AS Site in Stord (Spring 2009)

The 20m x 42m NV-type building is owned by Aker Solutions and located on Stord, an island south of Bergen, Norway. This building dates back to the 1980s and Rubb Hall AS recently changed the fabric on the building that was well over 20 years old. The galvanized framework was in excellent condition so it was a simple task to replace the fabric in a few days.

Life expectancy of the fabric on a Rubb building is comparable to the life of a conventionally roofed building, and the cost to replace fabric on a building is competitive with the costs to re-roof a building. The life expectancy of the galvanized frame is significantly longer; as in this case, after 20 years the frame will typically show little to no damage and be expected to last for decades longer.

Aker Solutions AS is one of Norway's largest offshore/oil platform related yards. They manufacture some of the largest oil platforms in the North Sea and are prensently finalizing the building of two very large deep sea oil platforms. These platforms are specially made to tolerate severe weather conditions in areas like the Barents Sea and can also operate on extreme depths. Aker have had Rubb Buildings for over 30 years and Rubb Hall AS is continuously re-covering some of the older Rubb structures.
